Winter Care and Frost Protection

Mexican clay chimeneas are made from natural, porous materials, which means they can absorb moisture over time. If left uncovered during wet or cold weather, this moisture can build up inside the clay.

When temperatures drop below freezing, any absorbed water may freeze and expand — which can lead to cracking or surface damage.

To help protect your chimenea and keep it looking its best, we always recommend using a suitable cover or moving it to a sheltered spot during the winter months.
